Sugar Magnolia always makes me think of my best friend in college, V, in all her wonder and splendor. So does And She Was.
Although, speaking of nostalgia and music, it's so good to be able to enjoy Shelter From the Storm again. For much too long it could still elicit grief that I usually thought was long-past.
Music's such an associative thing for me, both in memory and emotion. There's nothing like it for evoking memories of people and times in my life.
GodDAMN but this upcoming Peep reunion is making me nostalgic as all hell. In a really pleasant way, though, because I'm so happy with life at the moment that it's a fondness thing, not a "I wish it were then instead of now" kind of feeling.

Date: 2008-05-27 11:50 pm (UTC)I'm the same way with music. I used to really love the Smashing Pumpkins, and then got into a really heavy, and in the end pretty horrible, relationship with someone who loves them exponentially more than I do, and over the course of things almost every single song of theirs got tainted by him to me. Recently I discovered that I seem to have gotten over it enough to have gotten a couple of their songs back, and a couple of my REALLY FAVORITE ones too, so I totally grok your joy at getting an old favorite back after having to shelve it for so long.
p.s. I had really needed something to squee about today, and being reminded that I have my most favorite SP song back and then listening to it, was just the thing. I know you didn't specifically mean to, but: THANK YOU. Seriously. <3
