The way I put it was that everything else--working, chores, all that--is all done to make way for the important stuff, which is interacting with people and making interesting conversation with them. The rest is just blockstacking. I used to regularly spend evenings out with friends, but everyone moved, or went to law school, or had a kid, and now I hardly see anyone in person; I have to get my intellectual jollies from leaving what I hope are wit-dense comments on blogs and shooting the breeze with homies on the WASTE hub. But none of that is quite like having bright, clever, witty people around in person, and that's maybe the biggest reason I'm so lucky to live with my girl.
