Dec. 23rd, 2003

I've been thinking about this for a few days, but something today clinched it.

When I actually make a New Year's Resolution (which only happens every few years or so, when there's something suitably important), I do seem to follow through. So, I'm going to give this one a try.

Somehow, despite really loving holidays and special events and such, I've gotten utterly out-of-the-habit of celebrating them. Not actively grinchy, per se, just totally oblivious to them. They pass like any other day. And I never really meant for that to happen, nor do I really like it about myself. It makes me feel like I've put some part of my life on hold, pending a change in circumstance (less broke, less busy, less stressed, more settled with family -- that sort of stuff). So, my New Year's Resolution is to actually make time and energy to celebrate holidays/birthdays/and the like in the future.

And, the clincher today was that one of my coworkers gave me a wonderful organizer (yes, I'm all bouncy and excited about this). So, I'm going through and putting in birthdays, and holidays, and that sort of thing. I'm an utter scatterbrain when I'm living life off post-it notes, so I'm all excited to have an actual calendar again, and it makes it much more feasible for me to keep to a 'remember people's birthdays' kind of resolution.
What's that LJ Birthday look-up portal thingee?

Yup, I'm just all about the technical language today.
