But the larger issue is about critical thinking -- it's harmful to our ability to debate issues rationally, if large numbers of people support rules and laws without knowing why. What's the silliest thing you can get people to believe? If you can get large numbers of people to believe that seeing a photo of a mammary gland is harmful, well, where could you even go from there?
...but this really pegged exactly why this sort of thing drives me batshit -- it's symptomatic of deeper problems about how we analyse risk.

And ya know what's kind of ironic? I'm still refraining from using my most appropriate icon (the "Oh No, Boobies!" one that
cjdoyle made a while back), because it's got toplessness that, thanks to all this stupidity, isn't worksafe for many of y'all (and me too). *sigh*
