Too many books!
Apr. 12th, 2006 09:16 amOK, not really. But I've ended up in the middle of several simultaneously again. *sigh* When I was a kid, I was sooooo bad about this. I'd have five to ten half-finished books on my bedside table, all stacked, open to the page I was on, on top of each other.
I'm a third of the way through Pox: Genius, Madness, and the Mysteries of Syphilis, just finally finished the last few entries in The Emperor of the United States of America and Other Magnificent British Eccentrics, started glancing through Structures: Or, Why Things Don't Fall Down and accidentally started reading that (I'm a few chapters in; it's fun stuff -- sort of "engineering for non-majors"), and have been sidetracked from all of the above by Strangers in Paradise, where I'm currently halfway through Pocket Book 2. Given how engrossed in SIP I've gotten, and how quickly they read, comparatively (they're graphic novels), I think it's likely I'll finish these off before making serious inroads into finishing the rest. Haven't decided exactly what to say about SIP yet; sorting out the flashbacks and such gets a bit confusing, so I'm still putting stuff together, and will likely go back and reread once I'm finished with all five. I'm definitely engrossed, and by turns deeply sympathetic to the characters, and deeply frustrated with them.
Got back my quiz and my exam in class, did fine on both. I can't believe there's only a couple more weeks of class. The extra time in my schedule will be nice, but I'm going to miss class. Next fall will be Chem. I have to figure out which one I need to take, and I'm sort of struggling about it. College Chemistry is a survey course for health sciences folks. Basically a "non-majors" course. In one year, it goes through what the real, in-depth Chem course does in two years. It's really the only sensible choice for me, but argh... And it's useless as a prereq for further chemistry, should I want it. I'd have to go back and take General Chemistry I and II from scratch, and that's just going against my "learn it right the first time" desire.
Also, for folks I've been on IM with -- mine is locking up randomly. Not sure what's up, but it's thoroughly annoying. I may vanish or not reply to stuff because of it.
