Off to CLAW again in a bit...
Apr. 29th, 2006 07:44 amHad a good time last night working the silent auction with
fabulousmisst, despite the headache that wouldn't die (I ended up heading home as soon as my shift was over at 9pm as a result of it, though). Things were totally crazy for a bit when I first got there; it was the last half hour before the auction opened, and piles of last-minute donations were coming in that needed to be tagged, labelled, priced, etc. We got it sorted out, though, and the rest of the evening was mostly just hanging out in the room keeping an eye out for people with questions.
Very fun and friendly crowd; the event is pansexual, but tends heavily toward the gay leather scene. That might be more frustrating if I were actually looking for someone to play with, but I'm not really, so it was lovely. Lots of very attractive men to appreciate, and a very welcoming sense of community, and without having to spend all my energy fending off unwanted advances.
And damn, but I love the smell of leather. I walked past the vendor rooms upstairs briefly, and it was a bit like wandering past a good pastry shop or coffeeshop -- the scent convinces my body to backtrack before my brain's even registered it. Mmmmm. I'm planning to explore the vendor and educational areas today, although I'm unlikely to spend anything, since the budget's a bit tight at the moment. My shift isn't until 8pm tonight, but I'm going to head over early so I can make the lectures that're happening during the day. First one starts at 11am, and I think there are three or four in a row I'm interested in (conveniently enough, all on the same track in the same ballroom, so no tough decisions necessary). All in all, I expect it'll be a fun, but very long, day (my shift this evening ends at midnight, and I tend to turn into a pumpkin by 9 or 10pm, most nights).
