Oh, sleepy, but in a good mood.
Jul. 19th, 2006 09:23 amI stayed up much later than was sensible last night, and it's likely I'll be patient-instructing again tonight, which means another late evening, but I'm feeling pretty cheerful, if a bit low energy. We're still getting a bit of extra call volume from the power outage system problems, but it's not too bad today. Yesterday, though, I took 187 new calls by the end of the day. Haven't had one like that in a long time.
My students for patient-instructing were pretty good, though. I like working with the third-years. They're not so certain they already know everything, like a lot of the residents can be, but they've got enough experience that they're not as overwhelmed as the 2nd years can be, so we can work with them on details a bit more (fine-tuning patient-interaction and exam skills). Also, since they're coming to us right before their clerkships in ob/gyn, they're more likely to be putting the info into use immediately, which means they're more likely to practice it and retain it.
musicalchaos returned yesterday, and I now have my cellphone back.
I talked with
fabulousmisst last night, and thanks to the cheapie fares on Southwest, I can make it down to Baltimore next weekend to help her and
lunatickle get moved into their new permanent place (they had a handy temporary housing offer that allowed them to explore the city before settling on a place). I'm very psyched to see their new city and place, and to spend some time with them.
It is changing my schedule around a bit, though. I'm now clinic escorting this weekend instead of next (and at the Center, instead of Preterm, so I'd better remember sunscreen). I've left a message with my counselor to reschedule our next appointment (which currently overlaps with the travel plans), and I need to figure on getting a decent amount of housework done this weekend; it's been piling up, and I'll have travel plans or visits for three weekends after this one.
Also, I need to get around to the errands I've been putting off; I need to pick up my new glasses, stop by CVS for a copy of my last order (for my damn flexplan company) and also pick up the daily OTCs and flossy thingees I'm running out of, stop by the library to return and pick up books, look into plans for class at Tri-C this fall semester, do the August escort schedule, switch my nuvaring, find the missing netflix DVD, make a household shopping list (toothpaste, cat litter, frusion, bleach, paper towels, dried cranberries), and figure out a time to visit
forestfire.
Right now, though, I'd really like a nap.
