Timing on this one's particularly frustrating -- [livejournal.com profile] cupcakecomplex is visiting today, partly to see her Leroy-boy, and yesterday morning he hurt his left front paw, and is all limpy and sad-looking (especially because he keeps wanting to wrestle with the other dogs, and keeps figuring out that's a bad idea right this moment). It looks to be a strain of some sort; the actual incident happened right around the doorframe from me, so I didn't see it, but there's no appreciable swelling, and it seems sore, not overwhelmingly painful (I get an annoyed look, but no yipping, when I check it). We're watching it; thankfully Janet, [livejournal.com profile] zodarzone's mom, works at a vet and could get us seen today if it became necessary. At the moment Leroy's doing the three-legged hop, but otherwise seems active and energetic. *headdesk* In fact, as evidenced by him just now chasing Harry out of the room, trying to steal his toy, he's not learning that he shouldn't start things he can't finish right now.

Other than that, it's been a quiet weekend. Escorting Saturday morning, a brief fire Saturday night until it started raining on us, and then I woke up at 3am on Sunday, and worked 'til about 11am, and finished all the book organization in the house. Totally done. Go me. 13 bookcases total, with a bit of room to grow built in about every four shelves. I ended up changing my organization about a bit. On the dining room cases, I'm only using the top four shelves for SF/F -- it keeps it closer to eye level, and those are the short shelves that can't handle giant textbooks and the like (I've added an extra shelf to all the cases in that room). The bottom two on each section are other categories -- clockwise around the room, it's History, Queer studies, Women's studies, Mysteries and Thrillers, a couple of nice fiction collections (hardbound matching sets), Biography and Autobiography, General fiction, fiction/short-story, Essays and uncategorizable non-fiction, Anthro/soc, including ethnographies, and music. The kitchen shelf is cookbooks, home repair and how-to, references books on animals, fiction about animals, crafts and games, and sexuality textbooks and academic writings. My room is the rest of the theoretical books on sexuality (btw, [livejournal.com profile] marnanel, the book I was trying to remember the name of is Herculine Barbin), plus all the erotica. The living room is Special books from my childhood (on a safe high shelf) Storytelling and Mythology, Poetry, Plays, Political Humor, General Humor, English Reference and books about writing and words, Atlases, books of photography not otherwise classifiable, General Reference books, General Non-Biological science, writings about science, Women's Health, General Health, General Biology and other science textbooks, Yearbooks, Children's books, and Religious Writings.

I'm very pleased with myself, but getting all motivated at 3am had rather kicked my ass and fucked my sleep schedule. Not like that doesn't happen every time I get motivated on a project. It's not helpful to have a first-shift life and my most productive periods around 2 or 3 am.
