Whew...

Oct. 5th, 2006 10:54 am
Well, we just got a change made that seems to have dropped the call volume substantially. Maybe onset-of-hell will be a bit delayed after all.

In the meantime, I got this from a friend:

This woman is executive editor for $pread. Please, repost!

Subject: seeking women to interview about ONLINE health communities
Body: Yep, that's right, I'm on to the next chapter of my book, "Naked on the Internet" and I'm once again looking for women to interview.

This chapter is about health and the internet, and especially about communities around specific women's health issues, fact vs fiction, and online support.

I'm looking to interview women who have used WebMD or other sites to research health issues, as well as participated in online communities and message boards that are either general health/sexual health or about a specific topic. I'm especially interested in interviewing women who have researched abortion online as well as trans people who have researched health issues related to transitioning either into or out of being a woman.

Feel free to repost!

message me on myspace or email me at dacia@wakingvixen.com if you're interested.

I'm happy to protect your anonymity, you can use a pseudonym in the book and I can change identifying details if you prefer.
The post I tried to post before I left work, but LJ wasn't playing nice.

I'm flying out for Baltimore to see [livejournal.com profile] lunatickle and [livejournal.com profile] fabulousmisst tomorrow right after work. Tonight must be the preparing of the household, the laundry, and the packing for airport security. I really, really loathe the latter. Inconvenient, pointless, and irritating. Ah well. At least it'll get me there in time for a really cool show (I hope, I hope). And we're going to the National Aquarium on Sunday.

Household: Watch for incoming Netflix; they should include My Name is Earl, Season 1 (2 disks), and Gargoyles, Season 1 Disk 1. I figure some of you may enjoy those; feel free to take 'em for the weekend.

Finished up Cult of Personality Testing (sorry for the lack of links -- no time to put 'em all in), which I enjoyed a great deal. Currently reading What's the Matter With Kansas: How Conservatives Won the Heart of America, which is good, although not precisely enjoyable, given the subject. Sort of a funny reminder that I am the liberal their parents warned them about -- the stereotypes that unfairly "smear" many on the wider left? Yeah, those're all me. I'd have finished Seven Seasons of Buffy: Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Discuss Their Favorite Television Show by now, but some asshole cut out various essays and pages they like (or hated?). Unfortunately, it's the only one in the library system, so I'm going to suck it up, read the ones I can, and then let 'em know to take it out of circulation. I've put Farscape Forever: Sex, Drugs, and Killer Muppets on hold, since it's very spoilery, given that I haven't seen the last season and a half or so, and Netflix has one damn disk of the 11-disk first season on "long wait", so now I'm waiting. And waiting. Blarg. Waiting in my bag are How the Pro-Choice Movement Saved America: Freedom, Politics, and the War on Sex, and Kate Bornstein's Hello Cruel World: 101 Alternatives to Suicide for Teens, Freaks, and Other Outlaws, which I'm shamelessly planning on reading before passing along to a friend. Just got Plague Tales, The Wraeththu Omnibus, and Abarat: Days of Magic, Nights of War from Amazon, although those'll likely end up waiting til after this most recent library binge.

133 new calls so far today. 156 in my call group total. Not quite to the end of the day yet. I think I may track this for the next few weeks. I'm already feeling scattered and starting to mis-speak when I'm answering the various lines.
