Finally back at work. Two days of sleeping, and I could still fall right back in bed. I did make it to my appt with my GP last night, though, thanks to a ride from Casey, and I've got a referral for another sleep study (last one was more than five years ago). Depending on what that turns up, we may look at adding provigil back to my meds (I was on it after the last sleep study, but getting refills was a pain, and I ended up dropping it). Cause of flare this time? Walking less than three miles over the course of an evening. *eyeroll* Also need to get a replacement refill of my Ultram, since it took me so long to go through the first bottle that my scrip for my refills had expired by then. Whoops. Since I need to stop by the main campus lab next week for bloodwork anyway, I'm hoping I can bring the expired scrip with me (I still have the original print-out) and just get them to replace it with a minimum of fuss.

This weekend is IngenuityFest, and I am going to try to make it to a few hours of that without absolutely breaking myself again. Second date with D, and I'm psyched about that. Then I'm going to see Evil Dead: The Musical with Bec and Jer, and am really looking forward to that. Sunday it looks like lunch plans with [livejournal.com profile] serpentseye and [livejournal.com profile] kitminx. After that, I suspect it'll be an afternoon of taking it pretty easy and trying to keep my body behaving.

And Grafton should be home tonight! Yay!

Wow. Ick. "If things are really desperate, it might be time for your other half to go under the knife. With the advances in medical science and the current obsession with celebrity culture, cosmetic surgery is becoming more and more common. While it isn't something to be rushed into, nor something to persuade someone to do, surgery can do wonders for the confidence of someone who is less than a sight for sore eyes. And you'll have the bonus of a parading around town with a stunner on your arm."

Look was a lovely stranger found for me:
This user on DailyMotion http://www.dailymotion.com/tardismedia is in the process of posting the entire Classic series from his VHS collection. I had been trying to watch via Netflix too, and found his videos very useful in filling in the gaps where things haven't been released on DVD yet. It's easiest to watch via playlist: http://www.dailymotion.com/playlists/tardismedia (listed newest to oldest). (thanks to [livejournal.com profile] treading
[01] Have you ever been asked out?
Ridiculously often, since I started taking public transit. In general, as is obvious from my recent posts, I tend to be pretty active in meeting people, though.

[02] Where is your default picture taken??
It's the turtle on the wall of the Peep Lounge at Kenyon College.

[03] What's your middle name?
Whitman. I love it. It's my favorite part of my name.

[04] Your current relationship status
Poly, no primary.

[05] Does your crush like you back?
For closest definition of a "crush", I hope so. Should be able to guess better within the week.

[06] What is your current mood?
Exhausted, but in a good mood.

[07] What color of underwear are you wearing?
None. Can't stand the stuff.

[08] What color shirt are you wearing?
I don't even know what to call this. Vaguely purplish-brown? Maybe?

[09] Missing something?
Probably.

[10] If you could go back in time and change something, what would you change?
I honestly don't know. I've screwed up plenty, but I also really like where I am and who I am, and I figure changes would affect that in unpredictable ways.

[11] If you must be an animal for one day, what would it be?
Octopus

[12] Ever had a near-death experience?
Depends on how near. The car accident where I broke my back was moderately near.

[13] Something you do a lot?
Bounce my leg.

[14] The song stuck in your head?
Nothing, thankfully.

[15] Who did you copy and paste this from?
Jen

[16] Name someone with the same birthday as YOU.
1977 Oksana Baiul, Ukraine, figure skater 1994 Olympics gold
1970 Martha Plimpton, New York City, actress, Goonies, Mosquito Coast
1569 Paul Sartorius, composer
I totally had to cheat on this. Thank you, google.

[17] When was the last time you cried?
I doubt it was all that long ago, but I honestly don't recall.

[18] Have you ever sung in front of a large audience?
Only as a kid, and sufficiently disguised by many other voices.

[19] If you could have one super power what would it be?
The ability to grant myself more super powers?

[20] What's the first thing you notice about the preferred sex?
So variable I don't even know how to begin to answer.

[21] What do you usually order from starbucks?
Nothing. When I do go to coffee shops, I tend toward Breves or Chai.

[22] What's your biggest secret?
I like Jen's answer: If I told you, it wouldn't be a secret.

[23] Favorite color?
Brown.

[24] Do you still watch kiddie shows?
Often, yes.

[25] What is a line from one of your favorite songs?
Everybody's lover, everybody's brother, I wanna be your lifetime friend.
Crazy as a rocket, nothin in my pocket, I keep it at the rainbow's end.
I never think of money, I think of milk 'n honey, grinnin like a cheshire
cat.

[26] What are you???
Me.

[27] Do you speak any other language?
Sadly, no.

[28] What's your favorite smell?
Too many to choose from. I do love fresh lilacs, though.

[29] Describe your life in one word what would it be?
(pretty damned) incredible.

[30] What is one thing you would like to learn how to do?
sign

[31] Have you ever kissed in the rain?
Yes.

[32] What are you thinking about right now?
How long I can procrastinate picking up my next call.

[33] What should you be doing?
Picking up my next call.

[34] Who was the last person that made you upset/angry?
A politician, most likely.

[35] How often do you talk to yourself?
More often to the pets than to myself.

[36] Do you like working in the yard?
No.

[37] If you could have any name in the world, what would you want?
Something non-gendered, but haven't really thought beyond that.

[38] Do you act different around your crush?
Probably. I'm a goof. I'm much better off just declaring where I'm at and letting the chips fall. Saves a lot of idiocy.

[39] What is your natural hair color?
Red, fading to blonde.

[40] Who/What is your favorite pokemon?
This meme was not written by someone in my generation
New Boss continues to impress me. Today during some casual group conversation he'd talked about a story from his past that happened to involve a trans woman. Although there wasn't any hostility in what he said, it did hit me a little wrong. We just spent 15 minutes talking about it; he was apologetic, and happy to learn a simple rule about pronouns (use the pronoun a person chooses, just as you'd use the version of their name by which they introduce themselves). I'm pleased with his response, and more pleased that the environment he's creating made that conversation possible.

Edit: Originally a post from my b'berry, so a bit more context, while I'm not having to thumb-type.

I'd already ended up explicitly coming out to New Boss during our long, rambling conversation last week. He handled that without batting an eye, and generally feels like friendly people. Given that he's a straight guy coming out of a military background, which tends to lower my expectations in terms of cluefulness, he's generally remarkably on the ball. In the conversation today that'd bothered me, it was mostly the way he was handling pronouns that was bothering me, and when I came into his office to say that it had kind of hit me wrong, he was really receptive in a way that's somewhat rare, and sorry that it had come across as at all negative toward trans folk, and not toward his own awkwardness, which is what he was intending to joke about.

A lot of why work is so much less stressful now is that he's really honestly interested in feedback, and seems to have a pattern of treating his employees respectfully. As I explained to him when we talked tonight, mostly I was happy I was comfortable enough to come talk to him about what had bothered me, and get it sorted out. And although he'd probably need some further education about trans issues, if he were to have an employee transition on the job, I'm pretty sure he'd be an ally.
Are you ready for a long survey that actually has some new questions?
Oh, sure...
