I have been told similar things most of my adult life. "You ought to be in radio!" "You could make it big in radio or doing voice work!"
Oddly enough, none of these people work in radio, or have ever offered me any sort of job, or sent anyone my way. Hmm.. one ponders the authority wherewith these people speak.

In other news, having looked into radio, I can tell you that while big, big money can be made, once you become a 'personality' (think Stern or Mark and Dave, etc) the majority of the dj's have to supplement their income with ads, most of which pay such high flown wages as $10-$50 a spot, and take little more than most of an afternoon to cut. Oooo..we're going to be rolling in it.

On the other hand, it sure seems to me that a telecom company could use a decent voice recording scripts for those ever popular telephone hell messages;
"Your call is important to us. No really. That's why they paid me to say that! Please continue to hold while we assault your brain with badly copied recordings of Barry Manilow doing Mandy and Copa Cabana. Fortunately the static isn't so bad you can't quite make out the tune. Someone will be with you soon, and if you believe any of this, you'll also believe we'll honor that warranty you paid an extra $2,700 for. Have a nice day."

(I know this, because they now come to me to record those messages)
