Buffy Season 8 comic!
and a bit more about it
I'm sure I'm horrible behind the times on this, but I just happened to find out this morning, and I'm all kinds of excited!
Also, yesterday I got email from a rather long-lost college friend, which was lovely; I've been wondering how she's doing.
virgilsego, Amanda is newly ordained!
The Thankgiving long weekend was very relaxing and enjoyable;
forestfire came into town last Wednesday, and stayed through the weekend. It's been a very long time since we've gotten that much time to just spend together. Other than that, the weekend was mostly movies, restaurants, and a trip to Mac's Backs where I got to use my mobile access to my LibraryThing account for the first time -- I was so excited! It helped, too. I avoided picking up duplicates of two books, and could verify I didn't have several others I wasn't certain about.
In terms of movies, CSA was disturbingly worthwhile. I strongly recommend watching the special features and listening to the commentary for additional context. School Daze was bizarrely fascinating -- tackles big issues thematically, but tends toward over-the-top spoof and truly random musical numbers. Not a "great" movie, but definitely an interesting one. Fabulous was fun and interesting if you like a lot of talking heads (I do). Iraq for Sale wasn't one of my favorite Greenwald movies, but it's a bit hard to judge whether that's because it's done its job relatively well -- by the time I got around to seeing it, it wasn't telling me much I didn't know. Given that a lot of discussion I've encountered on the topic has been inspired by the film project, I'm hesitant to judge it too harshly in that regard. And A Bit of Fry and Laurie is fall-down hysterical, and I'm loving it. I expect more of their stuff to be heading to the top of my queue momentarily. I also caught most of The Fog of War, which was fascinating, and horrifying, and well worth seeing.
I didn't get a huge amount of reading done over the weekend; I tend to divide my time up pretty clearly in terms of entertainment/education modality -- internet at work, books on the commute, TV/DVDs at home. I did finish up The Best War Ever: Lies, Damned Lies, and the Mess in Iraq -- interesting, but already pretty dated. I'm currently reading V for Vendetta and Assassination Vacation, both of which I'm enjoying immensely. And I think that's everything I can recall for the moment. Work's ok, but post-holiday busy. I've had counseling last night, patient-instructing tonight, tomorrow, and probably Thursday, and escorting on Saturday. I'm kind of down, and kind of stressed, but not horribly so, and we've been having some incredibly warm weather for late November (it's been in the 60s most days this past week), which is nice while it lasts, and has been giving me something of a reprieve on the fibro.

I haven't read his most recent revenge novel but his memoirs and the first three novels are all great fun and hold up well to the occasional re-reading. Making History is my favorite but they're all good.
