Nothin' much...

First off, fun for Horror film fans -- Yendi is doing 261 horror movie reviews this year
Today's calmed down substantially from the mess yesterday, which is nice. Also, it turns out I'm not patient-instructing tonight, but I am picking up Fatty Lumpkin from the vet, so that worked out pretty much ideally. I'm stressing some about how little patient-instructing I'm going to be able to do in the next month or two, though. It rather sucks for me financially, and I'm worried about our schedule overall, since I was figuring on being able to cover more than I currently can with the new work schedule. Also, obligatory *grump* about the delays in getting paychecks from the FC while they sort out their new ED and finance people. *grrrr* Would like my check from December, please. Had I that check, my bank account wouldn't be at -$13. Talked to my counselor last night, and we've switched to monthly appts instead of biweekly, to allow more time and flexibility in my schedule during all this.
Matt's on his way to Kent now, with his first load of stuff. Due to all sorts of scheduling issues around various appts he had with various offices there, he did decide to just go the cab route, although we may still need to arrange transportation at some point to move some more of his stuff down there. He lucked into an apartment instead of a dorm room, which will be very good, and my folks are coming up later this month with some more of his stuff and apartment-stocking supplies.
This does mean that for the moment I don't really have convenient online access at home (although Bec and Jer have a PC downstairs).
harperjean -- you managed to get my old laptop working on high speed access over the summer, didn't you? Any particular hassles doing so? How slow is it? I'm wondering if it's worth the time, given how little time I spend online at home anyway. Then again, if the laptop's not horrid, I could use it in the living room, which is a lot more likely.
I'm also thinking about how/what to rearrange in the house. I think Matt's room will remain his space/storage for a while, if not indefinitely. I've asked him to move his stuff from around the house into there, and when I disassemble the computer desk I'll tuck the parts in there too, and maybe pull out the household bookshelves that he doesn't intend to ever take with him. I'll also move his extra stuff from the living room closet into his room eventually, I expect, and move my stuff from the computer room closet into the living room closet. End goal is to mostly clear out the middle (largest) room so that if I do end up with a new housemate any time soon, it'll be easier to manage. Also must repair the broken hinge that I've never gotten around to. Should make sure I don't eliminate too many pet hideyholes.
Tomorrow through Friday I'm going to be working 11:30am-8pm, just fyi.
Finally finished Intimate Matters, and really liked it a lot as a basic overview of American sexuality. Definitely recommended for anyone interested in the topic. Cable News Confidential was very quick (just over 200 pages) -- a good entertaining read, but I'm not positive I actually learned much more than specific details that I didn't know previously -- pretty much all the reasons that I get the majority of my news from various progressive and independent sources. Still recommended as an entertaining memoir, though, or for folks who aren't all that familiar with our current media monopolies.
I also finished watching the Christopher Eccleston Doctor Who series, and pretty much immediately added it to my wish list, I loved it so much. Next up is the first season of David Tennant, and after that I'm planning on backtracking and watching some of the classic series.
I think that's all for the moment.
