Dinner and Games

Finally managed to convince Mom and Dad that all I was really concerned about was some nice relaxed time hanging out with them. We took a couple of my board games down to Prosperity, played Gobblet, had a nice dinner and good conversation. We've all had long days, so we called it an early night, and I'll see them again tomorrow evening before they head home on Friday morning.
I don't recall if I mentioned it in a previous post (I'm notorious for repeating myself, because I have a horrible time keeping track of which things I did or didn't already tell particular people), but I had an interesting conversation with
infowidget on Saturday about career stuff, and she mentioned CSU's Nonprofit Management program. I'm curious, and when I mentioned it off-hand to my folks the other day, they suggested I talk to Gramps about arranging a loan like James has with him, instead of doing federal and bank loans.
I'm really not certain whether it's something that'd suit me, but I'm interested in exploring it a bit more. I'm not planning on considering leaving the Clinic until after the TSC project is done, unless another really cool opportunity looks to be dropping in my lap, and that'll probably be a good six months or so, at least, to the wrap-up on the project. But my current job does have tuition reimbursement (about equal to one class a semester at CSU), and my schedule has stabilized from what was going on last year, when I was working such random shifts. And apparently most of the classes in that program are available in the evenings. So, it's perfectly reasonable to just go take one of them that seems to be likely to give me a sense of whether it's something for me or not. Anyway, I'm pleased about that plan.

Although if Cleveland State has a non-profit program, that could be cool too.

Date: 2008-05-15 02:30 pm (UTC)Also, I'm running this fund raiser for our operations fund and it's doing REALLY WELL! We're considering taking the proceeds and in conjunction with a grant, creating another position here. It wouldn't happen for at least 6 months, so I don't know if that jives with your time line, but you'd totally be my first interview if you were interested.
