Finally managed to convince Mom and Dad that all I was really concerned about was some nice relaxed time hanging out with them. We took a couple of my board games down to Prosperity, played Gobblet, had a nice dinner and good conversation. We've all had long days, so we called it an early night, and I'll see them again tomorrow evening before they head home on Friday morning.

I don't recall if I mentioned it in a previous post (I'm notorious for repeating myself, because I have a horrible time keeping track of which things I did or didn't already tell particular people), but I had an interesting conversation with [livejournal.com profile] infowidget on Saturday about career stuff, and she mentioned CSU's Nonprofit Management program. I'm curious, and when I mentioned it off-hand to my folks the other day, they suggested I talk to Gramps about arranging a loan like James has with him, instead of doing federal and bank loans.

I'm really not certain whether it's something that'd suit me, but I'm interested in exploring it a bit more. I'm not planning on considering leaving the Clinic until after the TSC project is done, unless another really cool opportunity looks to be dropping in my lap, and that'll probably be a good six months or so, at least, to the wrap-up on the project. But my current job does have tuition reimbursement (about equal to one class a semester at CSU), and my schedule has stabilized from what was going on last year, when I was working such random shifts. And apparently most of the classes in that program are available in the evenings. So, it's perfectly reasonable to just go take one of them that seems to be likely to give me a sense of whether it's something for me or not. Anyway, I'm pleased about that plan.

It's CWRU's Nonprofit Management program.

Although if Cleveland State has a non-profit program, that could be cool too.

Ah, thanks! Yeah, I should look at both.

Gramps has not agreed to said loan since he gave us the gift. It seems like he thinks that money was sufficient for our needs. Unfortunately it is not likely to last the year which is why I wanted a signed contract so I didn't have to worry about this. The gift was nice, don't get me wrong, but I like knowing what path I have to tread.

*nod* Well, there's no big rush for me to decide on this, and I can see how things sort out for you two, since at least the first class or two would be covered by work, and wouldn't mean irrevocable employment changes and the like.

BTW I ran into someone in one of the communities I watch loosely who was looking for information on doing clinic escort volunteer work. I told her to contact you for information regarding how to get into the field. Granted she's in Boston not Cleveland, but she wasn't getting any real help and you're the best resource I've got on that line of volunteering.

Sure, no problem. I may be able to give her general ideas of how to find local escorting, or I may be able to find out from deb what organizations are working in that region.

oooh! I've applied to both Case and CSU for NPM/MSSA degrees!! It would be fun to take classes with you.

Also, I'm running this fund raiser for our operations fund and it's doing REALLY WELL! We're considering taking the proceeds and in conjunction with a grant, creating another position here. It wouldn't happen for at least 6 months, so I don't know if that jives with your time line, but you'd totally be my first interview if you were interested.

Oh, absolutely! That'd be really good, actually, because that's about when this project I'm on should be wrapping up. If it happens, definitely let me know! It'd be a lot of fun to work with you.

the minute I know more information, you'll be the first to know. I'm not sure exactly what the position would entail, but I'm thinking it'd be a mixture of data systems management and regular ass office work.

Definitely; as you get a sense of what kinds of work it'll be, keep me up to date. I can access a lot of training classes right now, so if it would be advantageous for me to get official training in some system or another, I may be able to manage that for free at the moment.

our system is a crappy database called ANDAR that a monkey could work. I don't think you'd have to worry about training!!

In the spirit of Zaftig, which you mentioned today, I thought you might find this interesting.

I'm really thinking most likely not. My biggest concerns, which have to do with managing a nursing program while keeping my fibro anywhere near under functional levels of control, really don't look great, and in combination with some of my other love/hate issues with the medical community, I'm leaning back more toward some other directions of interest.
