A fabulous response to the Wiscon troll

The very best bit: I am still fat, and I am still not sorry. And nothing you can say, nothing you can post, nothing you can do will change that. No matter how many times you try to humiliate me. No matter how much you want me to hate myself. Because it’s my fucking body. And I don’t owe you a damn thing.

-------------

Also, I'm now 100% certain I'm attending Wiscon next year.

Someone want to piss me off enough to motivate me to get to some other cons, now?

I'm entirely too much of a slacker, sometimes.

Thinking of fabulous responses...

Through a long and circuitous route from this click, I ended up at the LJ community [livejournal.com profile] dot_poly_snark, where someone made an inadvisably phrased comment about her perception that socially embarrassing outliers tend to be the loudest advocates for alternative lifestyles. Inadvisably phrased because it lumped fat people and people with weird haircuts in with "smelly weirdos."

There was a gem of a response in the resulting comment blaze, which concluded with: "If they hadn't blazed the trail, if they weren't pushing the boundaries of what was considered acceptable by the mainstream, your 'normal'/HWP/whatever ass would still be so far back in the Poly closet you'd see Narnia."

Original thread if you care, but the above was really the best line.

Oh, amen to that!

It's a large part of why I'm so vehement about trans issues; I'm very aware that my gender freedom has been won in large part by the work they've done and died for.

Yay, Wiscon next year! V. had a great time this year, and I'm thinking of going myself. Naturally, it'd be great to see you!

I think a lot of people are still hearing about the whole mess. There's some good explanation and discussion of how to handle the matter over in the Wiscon community.

Maybe you and I should consider a wisCon team-up... I've been considering going for a while.
