The Roadmap addresses LGBT concerns in at least two important ways. First, the guide recommends that hospitals adopt policies that protect a patient from discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity or expression.
In addition, the guide recommends that hospitals broadly define family to “explicitly include any individual that plays a significant role in the patient’s life” regardless of the legal relationship to the patient. Same-sex spouses, domestic partners and significant others would be included in this expanded definition of family, which the guide states should be used in all hospital policies, including those related to visitation and decision-making. -- Good news for me as a queer, good news for me as someone who has created "family" outside of romantic and biological bonds.

I'm fine with the gargoyle and in a certain way it makes creepy ironic sense to portray a Muslim as the gargoyle on that site. Politically incorrect, but amusing none the less if you think about it and the relations between the French and the Moors (Almohads) when the building was constructed.
*fumes over stupid supreme court again*
The men's sizes thing doesn't work so well on the upper end because suits are still tailored and the seamstresses and tailors still use tape measures. I know mine say 46" but they have elastic that adds up to 4" more if I want, which is disclosed on the label. I'm pulling at 47" right now, well within the tolerance for the size I purchased. The brand is "Harbor Bay".
Small victories in NE. Sometimes a shitty economy can work in your favor.

Date: 2010-09-08 09:51 am (UTC)Wow, that piece lost me with the praise of how well RTD does themes. Season One was erratic, and while the ending was good, the entire Bad Wolf imagery was ultimately meaningless, Season Two actually held together (and was a fascinating picture of a truly screwed up and obesssive relationship between 10 & Rose), but after that RTD's seasons were nonsense. Most of the Donna eps were excellent, but didn't build to anything, Season Three was crap with a meaningless ending, and RTD's last few specials were completely incoherent. Meanwhile, I thought Season Five held together very well indeed and had solid themes, an overall plot that while full of holes (as is true with every Dr. Who plot) actually held together.
