I've cleaned out my Giant Bag O' Crap, I've sorted my desk, I've organized my junk food drawer. Time for Linketies.

Going to post a few shorter posts today, in case you're desperately in need of distraction RIGHT NOW from family holiday weirdness.

Why You Should Watch Christmas with a Capital C (Seriously)
I don’t want to spoil the film for you, but let me just tell you that it was not, in fact, about an evil atheist outlawing Christmas. The Christian protagonist was not portrayed as being saintly and infallible. And most surprising of all, separation of church and state was fairly well explained and respected. -- Fascinating.

Herbal Remedies Unlikely To Terminate 24-Week Pregnancies
Related: WASHINGTON HEIGHTS — News of a 20-year-old woman who was arrested after telling police she drank an over-the-counter herbal tea to induce an abortion, then tossed her fetus in the garbage, shed light on a naturopathic "remedy" commonly known and relied upon across upper Manhattan. -- I personally don't find it all that unexpected that some herbal abortifacients may work even late in pregnancy for some women. However, it's _really_ important to note that this is often because they're highly toxic. Messing around willy-nilly, and assuming everything will be "fine" because it's "natural" is extremely dangerous. Please don't try to go this route without a huge amount of research and an overwhelming reason.

Woo, distracting links allowing me to avoid exam grading.

*grin* My pleasure!

What I find irritating about the herbal-abortifacients-in-Washington-Heights article is it's "oh, you know, THOSE people up THERE" sort of tone.

*nod* Very true, and definitely a problem in addressing the multitude of ways women in the US handle reproductive issues.
