The things you find...

I've got an old laptop that I'm loaning to harperjean for the summer. Last night I was clearing off the files I had on it. That was a bit of a funny little memory jog, and it was just stuff from about a year to two years ago. Much more odd was what resulted from trying to find a 3.5 floppy to transfer files to our other PC (wow, I didn't need to be reminded of what a time-consuming process that is). I poked around in a box of old disks, and finally managed to find a couple with some space I could use. The disks are from 96-97, though. I didn't go poking around in the files, since I was busy, tired, and didn't think I really needed to get sucked into something that might be really emotionally weird right then. I do want to start going through some of those old disks (I've got a hundred or so, going back to the early 90s), and see what's still salvageable, and get it moved before the disks totally die. And just looking at the filenames was enough to be strange -- folders full of love letters to J when she was in Marysville, letters I'd written to friends after arguments, activism stuff that reflects what I was working on at the time, info about various hobbies, smut I'd written, other people's smut that I was reading at the time -- it has the potential to be a very strange trip.

My exam last night went just fine; I'm certain I got an A on it, and positive that means I've got As for both classes now. Hopefully the grades will be officially posted soon so I can send off my paperwork to the benefits department and get reimbursed; that'd be some nice extra cash to have around.

I got home afterward and managed to get the necessities taken care of (laundry and packing, mostly), so now I'm all set to leave for Chicago today at 4:45pm. Yay!

Hopefully today will be a calm one; no more studying to do, so hopefully I'll have some time to catch up on LJ and email. Becca's uploaded the Bread and Puppet photos, and I want to post about those today if I get a chance. Right now, though, I'm very, very sleepy, and just want to go back to bed. Ah well.

Because I'm totally brain-dead today.

It's all relative:

1. How many siblings do you have?
Two; musicalchaos and jajy1979. Also, a sister-in-law, tasharowan. I'm the eldest; 4 1/2 years older than James (jajy1979), and 11 years older than Matt (musicalchaos).

2. Do you get along with your family?
I have almost no contact with my extended family, although I have rather vague but fond feelings for them. I get along very well with my sibs and parents, though.

3. Think you look like anyone in your family?

Almost everyone who's seen us comments on how much Musicalchaos and I look alike. I somewhat resemble the rest of the family, but the resemblance between the two of us is so strong that when he was little, people constantly assumed he was my kid, even when my parents were standing right there (this embarrassed me horribly -- I looked old for 12 or 13, and the fact that people thought I had a kid meant they must think I'd had *shocked whisper*sex!!) I think Matt's had experiences in the past couple of years of people who knew me, but didn't know I had a brother in town, encountering him and asking him out of the blue if he was related to me.

4. Do you want / do you have any children of your own?
Don't have any, no. I've been waffling about whether I want any of my own for my entire adult life thus far. Still haven't made up my mind.

5. Special plans for Mother's Day?
I'm going to be in Chicago with some of my closest friends. Unfortunately, due to distance, most holidays are "call and say hi" affairs in my family.
