So. Damned. Tired.

I meant to go to bed by 10. Or 11. But then there were replies to a mailing list. And that got me making posts. And then [livejournal.com profile] grf and I got on a long conversation about post-apocalyptic scenarios. And then onto American culture and body comfort and the implications of the existence of the tampon applicator, and then it was 1:30am. Again. Dammit. And it's so hot and sticky right now that sleep is hard to accomplish even without hypomanic fizzy-brain happening.

I've got the face-hurty tired today. Why on earth does being especially exhausted make my cheekbones hurt? What's up with that?

We've got second-year med students at patient-instructing right now. I like that we work with various programs, since it tosses some variety into the mix. Right now, second-years are meshing perfectly with my mood; straight teaching, rather than evaluation and fine-tuning. It seems I prefer second-years when I'm high-energy but scattered, and higher-level students when I'm lower energy. Anyway, my two last night were great, and I'm hoping for something similar tonight.

I finished reading Sex Collectors: The Secret World of Consumers, Connoisseurs, Curators, Creators, Dealers, Bibliographers, and Accumulators of "Erotica", which I ended up really enjoying, although it was much different than what I was expecting. I'd been hoping for something more extensive and categorical and detailed, but I ended up really enjoying its somewhat travelogue approach. Now I'm on to Better: A Surgeon's Notes on Performance. I'd really loved his previous book, Complications: A Surgeon's Notes on an Imperfect Science, and although I'm only about fifty pages in, this is already looking to be just as good.

I'm not sure whether brain or body will win today. If Body does, I'll be pretty quiet, and not manage to even get through much LJ-reading (I'm actually pretty behind, and I know I've missed a lot of stuff recently). If Brain wins, there'll be more rambling posts, and email replies, and all that.
Earlier, I semi-rhetorically asked:

I've got the face-hurty tired today. Why on earth does being especially exhausted make my cheekbones hurt? What's up with that?

It reminded me of another random question. Why on earth does drinking alcohol (even very small amounts) make my collarbones hurt? What's up with that?

Do any of you experience either of these?
