Last night was one of our Firebowl parties, so I came home to that. NL had gotten a babysitter, so he made it as well, and was there when I got home, which was lovely. Although I missed the folks who showed up earlier, I did get to see Jamie for the first time in ages, as well as Bill, Anita, and Liv. Small and low-key, but lovely.
I ended up finally watching the Torchwood finale sometime around 3 or 4am, and then fell asleep to the new Doctor Who episode, so I'm a bit hazy on the last half, and will have to rewatch when I get home. We got up early so NL could be out the door to pick up his kidlet, got Nick's before he left, and I collected Coco and shared my scrambled eggs with the critters while watching bad TV. As soon as I climbed back onto the couch I was covered in dogs. Fell back asleep for a bit with them all snuggled around me, then got up for a lunch date with Liv for tasty food at Le Petit Triangle and catching up (it's been far too long). Puttered about the house with Liv and Bec for a bit after that, then headed to work with leftover steak and boursin from Petit, and a big bag of cherry tomatoes I picked minutes before my carpool arrived. Also still have goodies from Farkas left. Still waiting on more Six Feet Under discs from Netflix, so I'm rewatching Howl's Moving Castle today (I started it yesterday but didn't finish it).
On Torchwood, I'm pretty pleased with the final ep, but I wonder how it played to people who aren't familiar with Doctor Who and the previous seasons of Torchwood. The rather hand-wavey final explanation of the cause of the Miracle makes sense in context, but I could see it being very frustrating and unsatisfying to people who don't have that context (like the meaning of the Racnoss reference, and the plethora of weird and relatively unexplained phenomenon already found on earth in previous seasons and Doctor Who). As far as I know,
still no definite word on whether Torchwood will be back with Season 5. I'm hoping so.
Oh, and as long as I'm talking tv, I'm pretty bummed about the upcoming cancellation of Eureka, but this story amused me:
