moominmuppetI personally know Rachel, and I volunteer at Preterm as a parking lot escort. Preterm is an excellent, excellent clinic that I'm damned proud to be associated with, and they do their damndest to help all the patients that come through the door. I can personally put whatever online credibility I have behind this -- it is not a scam. There's a paypal link and a mailing address for Preterm at the link.
I am writing to you today on behalf of a patient I am advocating for at Preterm, a non-profit abortion clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. Violette (not her real name) is a 12 year old who moved here from France a little under a year ago to enter the care of her biological father, who recently raped and assaulted her. As a result, Violette was put under care of Summit county, which is a Northern Ohio county that does not pay for abortion, even as a result of rape or incest unless a patient has Medicaid. (Ohio Medicaid DOES NOT pay for abortion unless there is a police report of rape or incest.) But because Violette is not yet a citizen, she can not receive Medicaid.
Violette was 19 weeks pregnant when she came to us yesterday. As a non-profit abortion clinic, we charge $925 for her termination services, whereas at for-profit clinics can charge up to $4000 for this type of procedure. I am trying to raise the entire fee of $925 to cover all of her abortion fees.
As an advocate and counselor to this patient, I am coming to you to ask for assistance in her care. As an organization, Preterm (www.preterm.org - Ohio's ONLY non-profit abortion clinic) will help to subsidize her abortion, but this takes away money for subsidies for several other patients who are in dire need of help.
If you can spare a dollar- five dollars- anything to help Violette, your assistance would be much appreciated.
