Stop me before I request again!

I've finished up the last of the library books I had out, and only one new one has come in yet. I just meant to reorganize my spreadsheet, really. But then I started checking what was available, and once I saw it was, I couldn't just not request it right that moment, could I? Could I?
Currently on order:
The magicians of Caprona, Diana Wynne Jones
Eats, Shoots & Leaves: The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation, Lynne Truss
Days of Magic Nights of War, Clive Barker
The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists : A Novel, Gideon Defoe
The Third Chimpanzee, Jared Diamond
On Bullshit, Harry G. Frankfurt
The Partly Cloudy Patriot, Sarah Vowell
Assassination Vacation, Sarah Vowell
The Know-It-All : One Man's Humble Quest to Become the Smartest Person in the World, A. J. Jacobs
Someone Comes to Town, Someone Leaves Town, Cory Doctorow
Fuzzy Dice, Paul Di Filippo
The Last Witchfinder, James Morrow
Lies My Teacher Taught Me, James Loewen
Sanctuary, Mercedes Lackey
Also, I went ahead and ordered Dark of the Moon and Seeker's Mask used, since CPL doesn't have them.
Just finished up Singer from the Sea, by Tepper. I can't say it was one of my favorites of hers, really. Entertaining, but a bit too much deus ex machina even for my tastes (and since I'm a sucker for a happy ending, I'm generally pretty tolerant of how it gets accomplished). Currently reading Psion by Joan D. Vinge. I'm not sure if I'd just started it at some point in the past, or if I'll get all the way through and realize that I've read it before. I know I've owned the book for years and years, though, so "before" could be when I was 12.

Date: 2006-08-08 02:07 pm (UTC)My punctuation can be a bit too far on the creative side at times, and I think it'll be an interesting read.

Date: 2006-08-08 01:47 pm (UTC)Sarah Vowell looks to be great (and I lurved her as Violet in The Incredibles) as I hear it.
Have also heard great things about Eats, Shoots and Leaves.
I think Joan Vinge is wife to Verner Vinge, author of True Names and ther Dangers, which was awesome, IMO. Heard good things about her work as well.
I WISH I had time to read.. :(

Date: 2006-08-08 03:09 pm (UTC)I added the Sarah Vowell books after a Daily Show interview, I think. My primary source of book recs is LJ, closely followed by Daily Show and Colbert Report. Darn list is growing faster than I can read books off of it.
I think Joan and Vernor have split now, but yes, they were a couple for many years. I like both their work, although I encountered Joan long before Vernor -- I just got into his stuff this past year or so, and was quite pleased.
